Editorial: On the Health of Health Science

Abstract

Health science is producing more research than ever, yet public trust, reproducibility, and equitable access to evidence remain under strain. This editorial takes stock of the field's condition. It examines persistent concerns about research quality and transparency, the uneven distribution of research funding and authorship across world regions, and the pressure that publication incentives place on rigor. It argues that strengthening health science requires open access to findings, stronger reporting standards, and a more inclusive research community. The editorial closes by outlining how this journal intends to contribute, and invites researchers and clinicians to help shape a healthier future for the field.
